The Universal Principle
At Fox in a Box, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our escape rooms stand. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and celebrate the stories, culture, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our Commitment to Cultural Safety
We recognise that for an organisation to be “Child Safe,” it must be Culturally Safe. We uphold the Universal Principle by ensuring that every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child who enters our venue feels:
- Welcome: They see their culture respected and acknowledged.
- Valued: Their perspectives and identities are celebrated, not just “tolerated.”
- Safe: They are free from racism, bias, or stereotypes in our games, our staff interactions, and our environment.
- Included: Our puzzles and themes are reviewed to ensure they are inclusive and respectful of First Nations history and culture.
Actions We Take:
- Staff Awareness: Our team is trained to recognise and eliminate unconscious bias and to treat every child with dignity and respect.
- Safe Spaces: We maintain an environment where children can express their cultural identity without fear of judgment.
- Listening: We welcome and value feedback from First Nations families to help us improve the inclusivity of our games.
