Love Monopoly but don’t have hours to spare? Monopoly Deal packs all the excitement of the classic board game into a fast-paced card game full of clever deals, sneaky steals and unexpected twists!
🎯 The Aim of the Game
Be the first player to collect 3 complete property sets of different colours to win!
Players: 2–5
Playing Time: Approximately 15 minutes
🃏 Getting Started
- Shuffle the deck and deal 5 cards to each player.
- Place the remaining cards face down in the middle to create the Draw Pile.
- Leave space beside it for a Discard Pile.
- The youngest player goes first, and play continues clockwise.
▶️ How to Play
At the beginning of your turn, draw 2 cards from the deck.
If you start your turn with no cards in your hand, draw 5 instead.
You can then play up to 3 cards from your hand in any combination of the following:
- 🏠 Play a Property Card: Place a property face up in front of you to start building a matching colour set.
- 💵 Add Money to Your Bank: Place Money Cards or Action Cards face up in your Bank to help pay other players.
- ⚡ Play an Action Card: Collect rent, steal properties, swap cards or demand money from other players!
Once you’ve finished your turn, if you have more than 7 cards in your hand, discard the extras until you have 7.
⚡ Special Cards
💰 Rent Cards
Charge other players rent based on the properties you own. The card tells you which colours you can charge rent for and who must pay.
🎂 It’s My Birthday!
Everyone else must pay you 2M. Happy birthday to you!
💸 Debt Collector
Choose another player to pay you 5M.
🔄 Forced Deal
Swap one of your properties with another player’s property. You can’t take a card from a complete set.
🕵️ Sly Deal
Steal a single property from another player, as long as it isn’t part of a complete set.
🏘️ Deal Breaker
Steal an entire completed property set from another player. Yes, the whole thing!
🚫 Just Say No!
Cancel an Action Card played against you. You can even use it to cancel another Just Say No!
✖️ Double the Rent
Play this with a Rent Card to double the amount another player must pay.
🏡 Houses & Hotels
Add these to complete property sets (except Railroads and Utilities) to increase the rent you can charge.
🌈 Wild Property Cards
Use these as different property colours to help complete your sets. You can rearrange your Wild Property Cards during your turn.
💵 How to Pay Other Players
When another player charges you rent or demands money:
- Pay using cards from your Bank or properties in front of you.
- You choose which cards to give them.
- You cannot pay using cards from your hand.
- There is no change given, so you might have to overpay.
- If you don’t have enough to cover the amount, pay whatever you have. If you have nothing, you pay nothing!
Remember: Once you put a card in your Bank, it stays there as money and cannot be used for its action.
🏆 How to Win
The first player to collect 3 complete property sets in 3 different colours wins!
Each property card shows how many cards are needed to complete its colour set.
Be careful, though! Just because you’ve completed a set doesn’t mean it’s safe from another player’s Deal Breaker!
