The Fox in a Box Difference

Fox in a Box is unique in Australia in how we run and look after our customers playing the games. In each of our rooms we have 8 cameras, ceiling mounted speakers and hidden microphones. All of this is fed back to our centralised control room where our Game Masters are watching and listening to you play your game

Each game master has two monitors, one which displays all the cameras and the other displays our game software which runs the game. The whole purpose of this is to give you, the customer the best experience possible when playing the game. We can see if you are stuck and provide gentle nudges or hints, if you want them.

Unlike other Escape Rooms we do not give you Walkie Talkies to communicate with you or ask what puzzle you are stuck on or where you are in the room.

How many people can fit in a room

All our rooms can take between 2 and 6 players and on request some rooms can take 7. However, if you choose Prison Break Head to Head or Bunker Head to Head (where you book and play our 2 identical prison/bunker rooms together) then up to 12 people can share the same experience. If you book all of our rooms then we can host 66 players at once. Unlike other escape rooms, our rooms are also private which means that when you book, only you and your friends are in the room - we don't fill up empty spaces with other guests.

Children, Teens, Parties and Age Limits

Our escape rooms are great for Children and Teens. Each room has a dedicated Game Master who is watching and listening to what is happening within the rooms. We encourage the children to explore, work out the clues and work together as a team but the Games Master can give multiple hints when required to make sure the game keeps progressing. Some rooms are better suited for younger players. We modify the adult versions of Prison Break, Wild West Saloon, Mastermind Heist and Bunker for a younger audience.
Ages 10 and above is recommended, but everyone is welcome to play. Children under 7 play for free. Ages 14 and under require a guardian to be present during arrival and when the game finishes. Please Click Here for more information on Children, Teens and Kids escape rooms and parties.

What is an Escape Room?

Real-life room escape games are a type of live game in which people are together in a room with other participants and have to work together to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and either escape the room, or complete your mission, within a 60 minute time frame.

Team Building and Corporate Activities

A Room Escape experience is an excellent choice for corporate team building. Your teams will have to work together and use logic and creativity to overcome problems. It is the ultimate team building event. With prior arrangement, if you have an HR department, someone from it can sit with our game masters and observe the game which gives insights into team dynamics. With 11 rooms we can cater for up to 66 players per time slot. See our Team Building web page for more details including corporate packages, catering and drinks. Corporate package information coming soon!

Opening and Game Times

Our hours of operation varies throughout the week and can be seen when you make a booking. When booking you will receive a confirmation booking email which will include details about your game as well as the following information. The games will start at the time stated on the booking, and if you’re not on time, the game will start without you. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the time stated on the booking so that we can do an introduction. We also have a great reception / break out area, with toilets and refreshments, where you can relax and get ready before your game starts . A game takes a maximum of 60 minutes and the entire visit takes a maximum of 90 minutes. After your game you are welcome to stay and reflect on your experience.

Do you serve Alcohol and Soft drinks?

We have a licence to sell alcohol and small snacks. We will soon be selling various options of Beer, Cider, Wine and Pre Mixed drinks for you to enjoy before or after your game. We also offer a range of soft drink cans (Coke, Coke No Sugar, Lemonade and Solo) as well as bottled water. Non alcoholic drinks are $3. Our snacks vary from time to time and cost $2.50 to $3.00

We request that you arrive more than 15 minutes before your game if purchasing alcohol or soft drinks to ensure that you have sufficient time to finish your drink in comfort and relax before your game starts. Please note that we are unable to serve players alcohol within 10 minutes of your game start time.

Accessibility and Special Requirements

Most of our rooms are suitable for wheelchair users but please call us as some of our rooms such as Prison, Bunker and in certain instances Zombie Lab are more suited than others. People with disabilities may fully enjoy our games but we ask that you call us prior to making your booking so that our staff can make appropriate suggestions and make any required alterations to your game to ensure a seamless experience. Pregnant women may also enjoy our games as they are not physically challenging and there are no fear factors involved (it's all in the mind as they say !) Also, there are seats in all rooms if a team member needs to rest for a while. Please call us to check the requirements if you are unsure.

Do you take companion cards?

We honour the companion card system for bookings with a minimum of 3 players (one being the companion card holder). A companion card holder wishing to play with just their companion alone will be required to pay the minimum booking price of a single player game $100. In line with the affiliate program we do not recommend a companion card holder and their companion to play without a third player as the gameplay of the rooms requires that players be separated. As a result there is no guarantee that the companion will, at all times, be able to be present and in support of the companion card holder.

Cancelling, Rescheduling and Refunds

When paying for the experience, we do not make any refunds. Up until 24 hours of your game, you can chose to reschedule your game, we will then send you a voucher worth the amount of the game, so you can make a reschedule yourself at a time which is more convenient. If you cannot attend your game due to COVID-19 related issues then we will also supply you with a voucher to reschedule your game at a later date. Please contact us if you have a reservation using a gift card or voucher and you wish to reschedule.

What level are your rooms

Our rooms vary in difficulty depending on group size, experience, and whether or not you have played with us before. As our rooms are fully immersive and our tech is integrated into our world class design, players who are new to escape rooms tend to find our games more challenging than those who have played with us before. However, bear in mind whichever room you choose our Game Masters are watching and listening to you and you can ask for hints or nudges at any time.

If you are playing with a smaller group consider that each room may feel more difficult as you have less time to complete each puzzle per person. So, every room is different and it really depends on you, your group size and how you think and work together !

Prison Break is great for families, first timers, and people new to escape rooms.

Prison Break Head to head is just like Prison Break except it is for larger groups of up to 12 people who not only have to complete the puzzles but also race against the other prison to escape first.

Mastermind: A Heist Story is perfect for first timers who are looking for a story driven challenge. Played in the dark with flashlights. Appropriate for children and families.

Zodiac Killer is a fun challenge for beginners and intermediates who don't mind a jump scare or two.

Zombie Lab is a medium level challenge which is linear and has a few jump scares.

Wild West Saloon is a medium level challenge for those who have played escape rooms before. Very family friendly for return players.

The Other Side is a nonlinear room perfect for groups who are looking for a challenge and don't mind dark and confined spaces.

Tesla's Mystery, along with bunker is one of our most challenging rooms and is ideal for players who have completed a number of rooms. It is a non-linear escape room design where logic and lateral thinking are a must - with of course a hint towards Nicola Tesla

Bunker along with Tesla's Mystery is one of our most challenging rooms. Perfect for escape room players who are looking for a classic escape room design, it is linear in style with the most puzzles to complete amongst all our rooms. However the puzzles in this room can be modified to make it suitable for children and families - ask when arriving.
