Read minds. Give clues. Get on the same wavelength!
Think you know how your friends think? Wavelength is a hilarious party game where you try to guess exactly where a secret target sits between two opposite ideas.
Is a hot dog more of a sandwich or not a sandwich? Is a penguin more cute or terrifying? There’s no single right opinion — but can you get on the same wavelength as your teammates?
🎯 The Aim of the Game
Work together to guess where the hidden target sits on a spectrum between two opposite ideas.
Players: 2–12+
Playing Time: Approximately 30–45 minutes
🎲 Getting Started
- Divide into two teams and place the Wavelength device in the middle.
- Each team chooses a Psychic — the player who gives the clue.
- Draw a Spectrum Card showing two opposite ideas, such as Hot ↔ Cold.
- The Psychic secretly looks at the target’s position on the wheel.
- The Psychic closes the screen so nobody else can see the target.
▶️ How to Play
1. Give a Clue
The Psychic gives a clue that they think matches the target’s position between the two extremes.
For example, if the spectrum is Hot ↔ Cold, the Psychic might say:
- 🔥 Lava — extremely hot
- ☕ Coffee — quite hot
- 🌤️ Room temperature — somewhere in the middle
- 🧊 Ice cream — quite cold
- ❄️ Antarctica — extremely cold
The clue should help teammates work out roughly where the hidden target is located.
2. Discuss & Guess
The Psychic’s teammates discuss the clue and turn the dial to where they think the target is hiding.
The Psychic cannot give any further hints!
3. The Other Team Guesses
Before revealing the target, the opposing team guesses whether the target is to the left or right of the dial.
4. Reveal the Target!
Open the screen and see how close the dial is to the hidden target.
🏆 How to Score
Your team earns points based on how close the dial is to the centre of the target:
- 🎯 Bullseye: 4 points
- 🟨 Close to the centre: 3 points
- 🟧 Outer scoring zone: 2 points
- ❌ Outside the target: 0 points
The opposing team can also earn 1 point if they correctly guess which side of the dial the target is on.
🥇 How to Win
Teams alternate turns, with a different Psychic each round.
The first team to reach 10 points wins!
For a more casual game, skip the scoring and simply see how well you can read each other’s minds.
Remember: The best clues aren’t always the most obvious — they’re the ones your teammates will understand!
