UNO is the classic card game where the goal is simple: be the first player to get rid of all your cards. Match colours, match numbers, play action cards and don’t forget to shout UNO!

The Aim of the Game
Be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand.
Players: 2–10
Getting Started
- Shuffle the UNO deck.
- Deal 7 cards to each player.
- Place the remaining cards face down in the middle to create the Draw Pile.
- Turn over the top card to start the Discard Pile.
- The player to the left of the dealer goes first, and play continues clockwise.
How to Play
On your turn, play one card from your hand that matches the top card of the Discard Pile by:
- Colour – Play a card of the same colour.
- Number – Play a card with the same number.
- Symbol – Play a matching action card.
- Wild Card – Change the colour being played.
Can’t play a card?
Draw one card from the Draw Pile. If that card can be played, you may play it immediately. Otherwise, your turn ends.
You can also choose to draw a card instead of playing one from your hand.
Special Cards
- Skip: The next player misses their turn.
- Reverse: Changes the direction of play.
- Draw Two (+2): The next player draws two cards and misses their turn.
- Wild: Choose which colour play continues with.
- Wild Draw Four (+4): Choose the next colour. The next player draws four cards and misses their turn. You can only play this card if you don’t have a card matching the current colour.
Don’t Forget to Shout UNO!
When you have one card left, you must shout “UNO!”
If another player catches you before the next player begins their turn, you must draw 2 penalty cards.
How to Win
The first player to get rid of all their cards wins!
For a quick game, that’s it! Shuffle up and play again.
A Few Important Rules
- You can only play one card per turn.
- You cannot stack +2 or +4 cards to pass the penalty to another player.
- A Wild Draw Four can be challenged if you think it was played illegally.
- If the Draw Pile runs out, reshuffle the Discard Pile (except the top card) to make a new Draw Pile.
